Mary Curtis

Mary Curtis has been making jewellery in New Zealand for more than 30 years.

Her work has been widely exhibited throughout New Zealand and overseas and is held in a number of collections, including those at the Auckland Museum and the Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt.

In 2017 Curtis was chosen to be Artist-in-Residence in the Munich studio of leading international artists Helen Britton, David Bielander and Doris Betz.  She was also Artist-in-Residence at the Edinburgh College of Art in 1995.

In addition to her own successful jewellery making practice, Curtis has trained and mentored generations of young New Zealand artists in the tertiary education sector. She was Leader of the Jewellery Programme in the Faculty of Arts at Manukau Institute of Technology from 1996-2014.  She currently lectures in jewellery-making at the Hungry Creek Art & Craft School in Auckland.
